Judit Bartholy

Meteorologist and climatologist, Professor Emerita at the Faculty of Science of ELTE

Meteorologist and climatologist, Professor Emerita at the Faculty of Science of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest. Her main research interests include climate modeling, statistical analysis of regional and global climate change, and the study of the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. As the leader and participant of numerous national and international research projects, she has extensively investigated the climatic trends and impacts of climate change in the Carpathian Basin. For several decades, she headed the Department of Meteorology at ELTE, playing a key role in advancing climatological research and higher education in Hungary. Her scientific work also focuses on urban climate, the interactions between energy policy and climate change, and the communication and public awareness of climate impacts. She is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and serves on several professional committees and scientific boards.
