Sándor Kerekes

He taught at BCE and its predecessors between 1971 and 2013. Initially, he taught chemical technology; from the mid-1980s onwards, he taught environmental economics and environmental management. In recent years, he has primarily taught postgraduate courses. He obtained his doctorate from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2003. In 2012, he taught as a visiting professor at SGH Warsaw School of Economics, where he was also awarded an honorary doctorate. His textbooks on these subjects are used as teaching materials by several higher education institutions.  

He founded the first environmental economics department at BCE and was a founding member of the PhD committee for management sciences at Corvinus University. He is currently the head of the environmental economics and environmental management specialisation there.  

He is vice president of the Hungarian Natural Sciences Society and head of the Environmental Sciences Committee. In 2018, he received the Justitia Regnorum Fundamentum Award in recognition of his exceptionally high-quality and exemplary achievements in environmental protection.  

Since 2018, he has taught BA, MA and PhD courses at Corvinus University, as well as PhD courses in Kaposvár and specialist law and BSc courses at ELTE. In 2022, he joined the Centre for Economic Geography and Settlement Marketing at Neumann János University on a part-time basis. There, he teaches Environmental Economics on the Master's programme in Regional and Environmental Economics, which he originally founded at Corvinus University.
