Ottó Toldi

Lead analyst, MCC Climate Policy Institute and Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office

Ottó Toldi graduated as an ecologist from the Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen in 1988 and worked as a biotechnologist for 20 years at the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center in Gödöllő. He spent one and a half years in Finland and almost three years in England, at the University of Sussex in Brighton, as a Royal Society fellow. During this time, he wrote thirty-six English-language articles, two internationally published books, six commissioned book chapters and thirty-one conference proceedings with his co-authors. From 2010, he became the leader of the professional team that developed the National Energy Strategy adopted by the

Parliament in 2011, as well as the associated action plans. But he continued to participate in the development of almost all relevant strategic materials (new National Energy Strategy, National Energy and Climate Plan, National Clean Development Strategy). His work was awarded the Bólyai Prize by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2002, honoured university docent at University of Debrecen (2011), and in 2013 he received a ministerial award.
